Move day has come. You are nervous, excited, and most of all ready to relocate to your new house with a fresh start. We all know moving can be hectic to say the least! Properly preparing for your move can save you time, money and a great deal of headaches. We at Allstate would like to help!
Over the years I have noticed that there are 3 simple things that can help our customers prepare for their big day! The more a customer knows the better!
1)ROUND E’M UP:
There is nothing worse than looking for your phone, charger, wallet, passport, medication or any important documents on the day of your move. Movers are coming in and out, boxes are being packed, and furniture is being protected & taken to a truck. Seems like a lot going on; that is because there is a lot going on. It is important that you gather all of items that you will need during the move process and take them with you. This can also include your personal jewelry, heirlooms and any other priceless items. This simple step will ensure you have everything you need secured in your possession, so that it cannot get mixed in and accidentally and packed the day of the move. Nothing worse than having to look for “A needle in a hay stack.”
2)NO TOUCH PILE:
It is extremely helpful to create a “NO TOUCH” pile prior to the movers arriving, in an area that is out of the way where you can set items that will NOT be moved. This is helpful because it creates a clear cut area that lets the moving team know exactly what not to touch. Items in this area could include carry along luggage, clothes, baby essentials etc.… basically anything you may need to get by during the whole moving process.
3)RESERVE PARKING:
Securing parking permits for the closest possible entrance to your complex or home the day of the move will ensure that the moving crew can get situated and commence your move as soon as possible. Make sure a few hours prior to the arrival of your moving crew that your neighbors have honored your “reserved parking” signs.
Moving is a BIG deal! But knowledge is power. Use these 3 easy tips to prepare for you upcoming move and you will thank yourself for doing them!
